About Action Hotels

Established in 2005, Action Hotels is recognised as a leading developer and owner of economy and midscale hotels in the Middle East, with a growing presence in Australia. Our focus is to introduce quality accommodation at exceptional value in central and convenient locations, wherever we operate. Our strong partnership and long-standing relationships with international hotel operators allow us to diversify our portfolio of hotels and develop the most suitable properties for each market.

AHC was established to take advantage of the market opportunity to develop economy and midscale branded hotels across the Middle East and Australia. AHC’s current and target markets are primarily in the GCC where branded midscale hotels are significantly under-supplied when compared with Europe and the US. AHC also has a growing and successful presence in Australia.

The market opportunity to develop branded economy and midscale hotels is underpinned by strong economic and tourism growth. GCC countries are forecast to be among the world’s fastest growing economies, have prime credit ratings and stable economic outlooks. Governments in the region are also increasingly focused on promoting tourism which is supported by an increase in intra-regional travellers to the region and demand for more affordable hotel accommodation from both business and leisure travellers.

We have a proven track-record in the development and operations of hotels. We currently have thirteen completed properties offering more than 2,200 guest rooms in six countries with plans to grow our portfolio in the Middle East and Australia to 17 hotels (c. 3,000 rooms) by 2019. All of our hotels are branded, managed by global hotel operators Accor Hospitality SA, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), Whitbread Group plc and Golden Tulip MENA SAS, through the ibis, ibis Budget, Mercure, Holiday Inn, Staybridge Suites and Tulip Inn brands.

Our success is the result of the careful execution of a focused plan to develop high quality assets in locations which have the potential for growth, coupled with our local market knowledge and well-developed network of contacts which allows a creative approach to hospitality development.

Our business model accommodates a range of structures as described below:

Ownership

We currently own ten of our operating hotels, which we have developed from greenfield. To date we have enjoyed significant development uplifts on our freehold hotels and continue to capitalise on any increase in property values and to develop flagship hotels in key locations.

Operating leases

In addition, we are actively looking to expand through long term operating leases, where appropriate, as it requires less capital expenditure, enables faster growth and allows us to retain control over the assets.
